No! Our name is “rotten,” but our fruit is anything but. Our farmers pick our fruit straight off the tree once it is ready for consumption. It is then freeze-dried while it’s still ripe, before being packaged and sent to our customers. We call ourselves “The Rotten Fruit Box,” because the fruit you’re enjoying would have otherwise gone unused and rotted away on the ground. We also think that the name "Rotten" helps bring attention to the serious issue of food waste.
Absolutely not! All our boxes are available as one-time orders. The only exception is the Custom Box, but you can still build your own box by buying our individual snack pouches.
As part of a healthy and balanced diet, nutritionists recommend that we eat 5 daily servings of fruits and vegetables. We like to think that our freeze-dried fruit snacks should be one of the five recommended daily portions. Just one of our pouches contains the equivalent of 2 to 3 portions of fresh fruit. Studies show that as many as 9 out of 10 adults don't eat the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables.
The size of each snack varies by fruit and is about 1 to 1.4 oz (26 to 40 grams). You can find the size of any of the fruits on the Single Fruit Pouches page by clicking on one of the product images. We don't inform the size of our boxes because they will depend on your actual fruit selection.
No, we do not! We don't add any sugar or anything else to our freeze-dried fruit snacks. 100% fruit, all-natural, and nothing added.
We like to think it's because they are happy. But cats purr to communicate other emotions and needs, too. Cats can purr when they are hungry and kittens will purr to create a connection with their mother. Purring can also be a way for a cat to soothe itself and purring can even help a cat heal faster.
One thing is certain, cats love our boxes too!
If you have an address, chances are we can get our fruit snacks into your hands. We send our boxes to over 100 countries!
Shipping is free with a minimum order of about 5/6 pouches. If you buy less than that we will charge a small fee of about $4 to $5, depending on where you live.
We currently ship from the USA and from Portugal. We expect to add Canada, the UK, and Germany in the next few months. We are working hard to source and ship locally from countries where we have the most customers.
If you want to, YES! We have a Custom Box that lets you pick and choose, and change, the fruits you receive every month. We also have our Seasonal Box with a special selection of our best in-season fruit.
We are so confident you will like your freeze-dried fruit snack box that we make canceling incredibly easy. Just send us a message or email, and we will cancel your subscription, no questions asked. You can also cancel your subscription from your customer account.
We will ship out your first box a few days after the order is placed. After that, you are free to play around with the shipping schedule. You can skip deliveries, or change the date of your next box. You can also move the delivery date up or down, it's really up to you.
To edit your subscription, log in to your customer account, and update your preferences. You can change the fruits in each box, skip deliveries, change the frequency or date of your boxes.
Absolutely! Just edit your subscription from your customer account.
The shelf life varies depending on the fruit. Our snacks are guaranteed to last for at least 8 to 14 months, but in reality, are good for much longer — that is, if you can keep them on your shelf and out of hungry mouths for long!
Our fruit is mostly sourced from a variety of small, local farms located in Portugal and Spain. However, our long term goal is to source some of our fruits, and ship, from countries where we have lots of customers.

Yes. You can let us know of any food allergies, dislikes, or intolerance during checkout. Should you miss that, send us a quick email after placing your order. We will keep any fruits you can’t consume out of your box.
